20 May 2009....Ride of Silence

I don't know if any of you have heard of this little ride, or if you even care to participate. It's a short, but very moving ride that leaves out of Hermann Park on Wed. evening. It's another ride that 'means something', but mostly to other cyclists. As ride marshals, we've been educated more than the average cyclist about sharing the roads and safety in that environment. Unfortunately, injuries and deaths still occur. This ride is to honor those injured or killed, and also to raise awareness of the 'share the road' philosophy and cycling safety. See the link below for information about Houston's Ride of Silence, and please pass this on to any other of your cycling buddies who might be interested. The number of riders for this event grow each year. I'd love to see a mile or more of cyclists riding through downtown Houston to City Hall to advocate for cyclists every where. Hope to see you there next Wed!
